Radio log
We'd like to show you a project that Solène Le Goff and Christophe Gouache (we are two young designers in 3rd year of Product Design in the Ecole de Design Nantes Atlantique) made. It is a "green" radio made out of a rough oak wood log. The radio uses the solar energy (the thin and long solar panel we can see on top of the radio) and also the energy man produces using a dynamo (the bottom left button in which you can fit a finger). There is no battery or any power wire. The top left button turns the radio "on" and changes the volume. And the top right button changes the radio frequencies.
The whole radio is made out of oak wood. The radio-log is a simple and humble object that can bring "nature" to your interior. The first idea was to use no plastics or metals but only raw and natural material, that's why 80% of the radio is made out of wood while the other 20% are the components that are used to make the radio work.
The radio has already been published in many websites : please have a look at designboom and yankodesign for more pictures of our work.
